There are two different techniques to performing PDR. The first technique is to get behind the the panel and push the dent out. Most panels on a car have access areas where the technician can use specials rods to get behind the dent and make accurate pushes to get the dent out. Panels on a car that have no access points require a different technique called “glue pulling.” During this process, a tab is glued onto the panel, then a special tool is used to pull out the dent and create a small high spot. The technician then uses a hammer and knocks down to level out the high spot.
There are several factors that determine the price of a dent. Location, size, depth, accessibility, type of metal, and paint condition all play a role in the price of a dent.
Yes! If the paint is scuffed or scratched, the dent can still be fixed and the scratch can possibly be buffed out. If the dent has a chip in the middle, then the dent can be pushed out and some touch up paint can be applied to avoid any corrosion to your metal.
A typical door ding the size of a quarter can be repaired in under an hour. Dents bigger than a quarter can take 1-4 hours. Hail damaged cars take 1-3 days to complete.
